The VMET trustees’ hope this website will help refresh the legacy left by Viola Russ McBride, as well as provide access to the provisions Viola left her descendants and community.
.
VMET encompasses a diverse set of assets and purposes. Assets include grazing land, timber, hunting, rentals and other investments. Purposes include preservation of the real properties such as the Patrick Place in Waddington, established in 1851 and possibly the oldest occupied home in Humboldt County. Southmayde, Viola’s beloved home for most of her life, now maintained by Dianna Jacob, provides both an income for VMET, and a beautiful location for the annual McBride Family Reunion (through Dianna’s generosity). Besides preserving real property, VMET also awards scholarships for education after high school for both her descendants and community.
